Dr. John Chen is the director and founder of Mohs Surgery Center at HealthySkin Dermatology. As a board-certified dermatologist and fellowship-trained Mohs micrographic and reconstructive surgeon, his meticulous approach and sophisticated surgical technique result in a cure rate of over 99% and with superior cosmetic outcomes. Dr. Chen has performed successfully close to thirty thousand Mohs surgery cases since 2004.
Born and raised in Shenyang, China, Dr. Chen received his medical degree from China Medical University in Shenyang, and came to the United States in 1992 as a research fellow sponsored by the National Institute of Health. He has been awarded national research grants and was the recipient of the Dermatology Foundation Research Fellowship Award in 1994.
Dr. Chen completed an internship at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, and received his dermatology training at Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan. He then completed specialized fellowship programs in Laser and Cosmetic Dermatologic Surgery, and Mohs Micrographic and Reconstructive Surgery.
Dr. Chen is also very active in dermatologic research and teaching. He has authored 46 publications and book chapters. He lectures at national and international dermatology meetings. In 2006, Dr. Chen became a partner of HealthySkin Dermatology.
Dr. Chen is board certified as a Diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology. He is a Fellow in the American Academy of Dermatology and American College of Mohs Surgery.
